The following information reflects the work and deliverables that occurred during April 2020:

New HT-RADAR Program Director hired: Clara Anne Wagner

We are pleased to announce Clara Anne Wagner as the new Program Director for HT-RADAR. Clara Anne joins us from The International Rescue Committee in Phoenix, Arizona. At the IRC Clara Anne was Direct Services Manager for programs that address vulnerable populations who require intensive services in the Phoenix region. She was also responsible for community outreach and partnerships, grant writing and management and monitoring and evaluation of all program activities.  Her passion is working with populations that have been exploited by human trafficking, and we are thrilled to have her join our team.

Note from Clara Anne Wagner:

Hello Everyone!

I hope this finds you well. I have officially started my remote work as of April 20th 2020 and am looking forward to connecting with you all. During my first few weeks in this new role I have learned a lot about the history and structure of HT-RADAR. In addition, I have been able to get a sense of who is involved in Anti Trafficking work in the San Diego area and hope to learn more about that great work that has been happening in your city. I am looking forward to connecting with all of you and learning more about how we can collaborate in the future. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me to schedule a time to meet virtually: cwagner@pointloma.edu

Kind Regards,

Clara Anne Wagner

Next HT-RADAR Quarterly Meeting

The next quarterly meeting is scheduled tentatively for June 25th and will be provided as a virtual meeting through Zoom.

Dr. Lianne Urada, with SDSU MSW graduate co-investigators Lauren Azar, Christian Cacho, and John Kennon, will present the extent of and intersections between human trafficking (sex trade and sexual exploitation), housing instability, and food insecurity among San Diego State University students. In addition, guest researchers from outside of the San Diego area have been invited to present. More details to follow.

After the quarterly meeting, we will send a survey on the following: Who attends the meetings, research interests, research needs, collaboration and preferred structure. This survey will help us better understand how to structure the quarterly meeting moving forward. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Date, time and details for attending the live webinar will be available through the website and the HT-RADAR email list in the near future.

HT-RADAR Website

The HT-RADAR website has new funding opportunities, upcoming conferences, information about the HT-RADAR Research Conference and access to the abstracts from all Conference speakers’ presentations. 2020 HT-RADAR Conference highlights are available here: https://ht-radar.abolishhumantrafficking.com/read-more/

Phase Two of the website update is underway and will include a directory of research articles and reports and improved access to information for researchers and colleagues.

HT-RADAR & OnRamps Research Study

The OnRampsTM initiative is a collective impact modeled project that will identify educational and vocational options and leverage partnerships to provide access to services for survivors to permanently leave the life of exploitation.

As a part of the effort to provide educational and vocational support to survivors exiting the life of exploitation, this longitudinal qualitative research study will evaluate the effectiveness of ongoing assessment and intervention services on the recidivism rate of victims of sexual exploitation.
